Holi 2023
Holi is celebrated on Tuesday, March 8,2023. It is a two day festival with the first day called Chhoti or Holika Dahan and the second day called Dhuleti or Rangwali Holi which is on Wednesday 8th March 2023.The festival celebrates sharing and love as well as colors. People celeberate Holi by meet each other & play Holi.
Holi Celeberation- Holi is known as the 'festival of colors' is celebrated on the full moon day falling in the month of Phalguna (Feb-Mar). Like many other festivals in India, Holi also signifies a victory of good over evil. As per ancient mythology, there is a legend of King Hiranyakashipu with who Holi is associated.
The significance of playing with colors is connected to Lord Krishna, who was dark in color and would complain to his mother that all the Gopis and Radha were fair in color. The Gopis would make fun of Krishna so his mother told him to color them in any color her desired and thus came the tradition of playing with colors on Holi. This fun filled and vibrant Holi is a very famous tradition followed in Braj. Holi Celebrations in Vrindavan, Mathura places famous for Lord Krishna. It is a day when all inhibitions are let loose and men and women freely mingle and color each other. It is the day to ‘forgive and forget’, the day when old fights and slights are let go and friendship are renewed, new bonds are formed.
This is the time to enjoy the traditional Bhaang, a traditional drink made with milk and consumed on Holi. It is even served as a welcome drink or Prasad in many places. The scrumptious sweets and savories like Gujiya, Laddoos, Pakoras, Halwa and Pooris etc are an integral part of the festivities as any Indian festival is incomplete without a lavish spread of food.

Rangwali Holi / Dhulandi
Holi is a religious festival celebrated by Hindus all over the world. Holi is considered biggest festival on Hindu calendar after Diwali. Holi is also known as festival of Colors.
Mathura & Vrindavan are famous for Holi. Places related to life of Lord Krishna are known as Braj regions. Holi rituals in Braj regions - Mathura, Vrindavan, Gowardhan, Gokul, Nandagaon and Barsana - are the most famous one. The Lathmar Holi - the traditional Holi festivity in Barsana is world famous. People from different parts of word go to braj regions to play & see Holi. In most regions.
Rangwali Holi- The second day is known as Rangwali Holi - the day when people play with colored powder and colored water. Rangwali Holi which is main Holi day is also known as Dhulandi or Dhulendi (धुलण्डी). Now days people play organic Holi or Holi with Herbal colors as it is very safe for skin.On this day people go to there friends, Relatives, Neighbours houses to play Holi.On this day people prepare Sweets ,Snake different varieties of food & offer to people who comes to meet them. On this dsy people dance & party is arranged in different areas of the country.
On first day bonfires are lit after sunset at Right Holika Dahan Muhurta. Main Holi day when people play with colors is always next day of Holika Dahan or Holi bonfire. Next day in the morning people play Holi with dry and wet colors. People are more willing and comfortable to play Holi with dry colored powders which are known as Gulal. However Holi celebrations are incomplete without wet colors. Wet color is applied on the face and is made on the spot by mixing little amount of water with dry colored powder.
